I have studied the master Medical Natural Sciences at the VU university in Amsterdam. This master is a multidisciplinary program that combines physics and chemistry with medicine. This combination is focused on translating research in fundamental physics or chemistry into solutions in healthcare. Due to my interest for medical technology I selected the medical physics specialization. During my study and internships I gained experience in medical image processing, data analysis and performing experiments with medical devices. During my major internship at the VU medical center I worked with 0.35-T MR images. The aim of the project was to evaluate tumor response prediction using MR-based texture analysis on images acquired with the MRIdian. The MRIdian is a radiation device that has an integrated MRI scanner for real-time imaging.
Currently, I am a PhD student working at the radiology department of the LUMC. The aim of the PhD project is to develop a method that enables localization of brown adipose tissue (BAT) and its activity. Several MRI methods will be evaluated in order to determine their feasibility in mapping brown adipose tissue.
