Yuedan studied molecular biology at Beijing Normal University and obtained her master degree in molecular biology and biochemistry in 1999. She was then employed as an assistant researcher and faculty member in the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. There she gained thorough training and work experience in cell biology and molecular cloning, as well as lab management experience as a lab manager and project coordinator. In 2004-2008 she received her PhD training in the department of cell physiology in NCMLS of Radboud University Nijmegen. During her studies, she specialized in studying the different acquired and genetic forms of nephrogenic diabetes insipidus and their treatments. Thereafter she joined the Department of Hematology of Erasmus Medical Centre to work as a postdoctoral to study new stem cell therapies for genetic disorders. In 2013 she started work on point-of-care assays in the SME sector. She is currently involved in projects related to the development of the biomarker assays, immunotherapies and molecular imaging tools. Yuedan is also the project manager for EU Horizon2020 project ELECTOR WP3.
