Introduction

Since 1988 Dr. Kuppen is connected with Leiden University Medical Center. As researcher at the Department of Pathology in 1993 he defended his thesis "Studies on interleukin-2-activated rat natural killer cells. Establishment of a syngeneic model for adoptive immunotherapy of cancer''. Het became researcher and Head of the research group 'Immunotherapy of cancer' at the Department of Surgery. As projectleader research surgical oncology he is an expert on cancer immunotherapy, focused on colorectal cancer and prognostic and predictive biomarkers in colorectal and breast cancer. In 2001 Dr. Kuppen became head of the the Laboratory for Surgical Oncology and in 2009 Head of the Research Laboratory for Surgery. Besides a researcher Dr. Kuppen is coordinator of the program for academic training of the study Biomedical Sciences
