Area(s) of interest
Validity and reliability of research findings strongly depends on the quality of the data that are analysed to answer a specific research question. Data quality can be diminished due to missing values or measurement error. Additionally, quality of data can be reduced in more subtle ways, such as timing of measurements, heterogeneity in definitions and site-specific characteristics. During my PhD, I study the context that gave rise to data more closely and describe methodological and statistical issues that may be introduced by particular approaches of data collection. I test and develop statistical methods that account for data quality in order to improve research on data such as routinely collected health data.
