Introductie

Renée de Mutsert has a MSc degree in ‘Nutrition and Health’ (Wageningen University, the Netherlands) and a PhD degree in Clinical Epidemiology (Leiden University and Medical Center (LUMC), the Netherlands). Currently, she coordinates a large prospective cohort study, the Netherlands Epidemiology of Obesity study, to unravel underlying mechanisms of obesity-related diseases. In addition, she teaches epidemiology to (bio)medical students. She conducts research on the role of dietary intake, physical activity, and body composition in the development of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. She is particularly interested in the causes and consequences of visceral fat accumulation.
