Introductie

Margreet Kloppenburg studied medicine at the University of Groningen, and obtained her medical degree in 1991.

She obtained her PhD degree in 1996 on the thesis "The tetracycline derivative minocycline as treatment for rheumatoid arthritis" at the Leiden University. Professor Kloppenburg got her qualification as a rheumatologist in 2000.

Since 2000 she is appointed both at the departments of Rheumatology (head: Prof. dr. TWJ Huizinga) and of Clinical Epidemiology (head: Prof. dr. FR Rosendaal) of the LUMC. She set up research in the field of osteoarthritis and has special interest for hand osteoarthritis.

In 2012 she was appointed professor in Rheumatology with focus on aetiology and clinimetrics. Her current research focuses on aetiological factors for osteoarthritis development and progression and on methodology to evaluate the course of osteoarthritis by MRI and radiographs and on patient reported outcomes.
