Clinical Epidemiology contributes to the solution of clinical problems. This requires research integrated in laboratory and clinic. The research of the Department of Clinical Epidemiology aims at translating molecular and biochemical abnormalities to consequences for the patients. Questions relating to pathophysiology and gene-environment interaction are approached with the use of methods and principles from epidemiology and statistics (Research program - 21001 Clinical Epidemiology).
Six main research fields can be distinguished:
- Renal failure and dialysis
- Transfusion Medicine
- Metabolic Syndrome
- Theory of Epidemiology
Each main research field has one or several projects.
