Bioinformatica expertisecentrum
The Bioinformatics Center of Expertise offers bioinformatics advice to all LUMC reseachers who work in genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and other fields that rely heavily on bioinformatics tools. This advice is a form of interdisciplinary scientific cooperation. A list of consultants can be found here.
Our research and groups
Methodological Research
The Bioinformatics Center of Expertise also performs methodological research to develop new bioinformatics methods and to improve the performance and understanding of existing ones. This research is closely linked with the bioinformatical consulting, as problems arising from consulting give direction to the methodological research, which in turn helps improve the consulting activity. The research is conducted by the following groups related to the Center of Expertise.
Tools we developed
Bioinformatica is een zich snel ontwikkelend gebied op het snijvlak van statistiek, informatica, biologie en geneeskunde. Het richt zich op methoden voor het analyseren, verbinden en visualiseren van de grote datasets die voortkomen uit moderne high throughput moleculaire biologie en moderne imaging technieken.
Het Bioinformatica Expertisecentrum verenigt alle bioinformatici van het LUMC. Het maakt kennis en advies op het gebied van bioinformatica beschikbaar voor alle onderzoekers van het LUMC. Daarnaast bevordert het centrum samenwerking en kennisoverdracht tussen bioinformatici onderling, o.a. door het organiseren van seminars. Ook verzorgt het Expertisecentrum cursussen voor onderzoekers en studenten.

We usually have possibilities for bachelor's (HBO/University) and master's thesis projects for students of bioinformatics, computer science or mathematics. Please contact the participating bioinformatician with the area of expertise that is most of interest to you, or contact one of the members of the bioinformatics core.
