Your position

We are looking for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral researcher for our LymphChip project. The aim is to advance organ-on-chip technology by creating miniature tissue models of heart, skin and gut with integrated lymphatic and immune system. What you do

The position funded by the NWO NWA-ORC LymphChip grant will offer the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary team of researchers at the interface between academic organizations, healthcare, health foundations, biotech companies, societal representatives, and national institutes. The LymphChip project aims to advance organ-on-chip technology by creating miniature tissue models of heart, skin and gut with integrated lymphatic and immune system. The aim is to provide a precision tool for immune-related diseases without using animals. You will have access to the state-of-the-art Flow Cytometry, Imaging, Organ-on-chip technology and Genomics facilities at Leiden University Medical Center. You will interact with LymphChip consortium partners from other live science and technical Dutch universities. You will participate in LymphChip consortium meetings that include both academic and non-academic partners. You will investigate the process of endothelial cell lineage specification from human pluripotent stem cells with the focus on lymphatic cell lineage. You will also produce high quality visualization of data for publications, manuscript preparation and publishing. And you will support junior researchers in the team (PhD students, Postdocs) and provide advice of the experimental design and analysis methods. You will work independently on several major and minor projects across independent teams of researchers.

What we ask

You have obtained a PhD degree in biology, medical biology, biomedical sciences, or equivalent. You are interested in developmental biology, vascular biology, lymphatic biology, or immunology. Candidates should express a strong interest in extending their skills towards human pluripotent stem cells culture and differentiation. Understanding of cell lineage specification is a must. Previous experience with human pluripotent stem cell culture is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. You should be highly motivated, capable of working both independently and in a team. English communications skills are required.

More information

We offer a full-time position based on an 36-hour week. The appointment is initially for one year with the possibility of extension for a maximum of 48 months. Your salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, with a maximum of € 4,707 gross per month based on a full-time position (scale 10 of the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch University Hospitals).
