The Netherlands Epidemiology of Obesity (NEO) study is an ongoing population-based prospective cohort study that includes 6,671 men and women aged 45–65 years at baseline. Individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 27 kg/m2 or higher were oversampled in the study.
