Even voorstellen
I am trained as a health scientist and specialized in research on implementing changes in healthcare practice, also known as implementation research. I obtained my PhD at Maastricht University (NL). My doctoral research focused on organizing care in a process-oriented way, aiming to arrange care as much as possible around the patient. After my PhD, I further specialized in research on implementing innovations in patient care and reducing care that is no longer effective or even harmful to the patient (de-implementation) in hospitals. I conduct my research in close collaboration with healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders to create a win-win situation: improved quality of care and new insights for implementation science.
Wetenschappelijk onderzoek
My research focuses on accelerating and improving the implementation of innovations in patient care and de-implementation of care that is no longer effective or potentially harmful (i.e. low-value care). To achieve this, I study why changes in practice sometimes succeed and sometimes fail, how effective certain strategies are for implementing innovations or reducing low-value care, and the mechanisms underlying these strategies. Additionally, I examine the differences between introducing improvements in patient care (implementation) and reducing low-value care (de-implementation). The ultimate goal is to shorten the time between the emergence of new evidence and its actual application in daily healthcare practice. In doing so, I aim to contribute to better patient care and ensure that healthcare remains feasible and affordable in the future.
