Nanoscale microscopy imaging services

Electron Microscopy Facility

The electron microscopy facility provides complete nanoscale imaging services that include specimen preparation, imaging and visualization, for 2D and 3D transmission, scanning and cryo-electron microscopy. We provide personalized approaches for scientific and medical researchers who need histological, morphological and structural insights beyond the resolution of light microscopy.

Services

The electron microscopy facility provides complete nanoscale imaging services that include specimen preparation, imaging and visualization, for 2D and 3D transmission, scanning and cryo-electron microscopy. We provide personalized approaches for scientific and medical researchers who need histological, morphological and structural insights beyond the resolution of light microscopy.

Equipment

The Electron Microscopy Facility has in total four transmission, scanning and cryo electron microscopes, dedicated equipment for specimen preparation, and data storage and image processing servers.

Pricing

We operate under a hybrid funding model in which fees for internal users and external academic customers are market conform with part of the costs being supported by the institution. Pricing for non-academic, commercial users and companies covers full operating costs.

First time users

For general inquiries, services or project applications, please contact us or via e-mail, phone or our PPMS management system. An intake meeting will be planned to discuss your (research) question, technical, practical, financial aspects and planning. Our expert staff can also advice and help you with the preparation and transfer of your sample. We will take care of the complete electron microscopy related specimen preparation, imaging and analysis.

About us

The aim of the Electron Microscopy Facility is to accelerate biomedical research for researchers and clinicians, primarily at the LUMC, but also at Leiden University and the Leiden Bioscience Park. We do this by maintaining and keeping up-to-date with advancing microscopy and computational resources, facilitating access to diverse specimen preparation and electron microscopy imaging techniques, and development of automated workflows and machine learning based image analysis.
