Good Research Practice & Integrity

Researchers flourish in a culture defined by independence and integrity. We expect all employees to conduct research according to the highest ethical and professional scientific standards. This includes both LUMC PhD candidates and Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) students, as well as others research with LUMC or using LUMC facilities.

Scientific standards are defined by government regulations, institute policies, professional codes of ethics, and commonly accepted practices. At the same time, not every ethical dilemma or responsible action will be addressed by existing standards. LUMC research code

In compliance with the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, LUMC works on further promoting and safeguarding Good Research Practices & Scientific Integrity. Important information for all LUMC employees involved in scientific research and education is outlined in a LUMC guide to integral scientific conduct. In the event the LUMC Research code conflicts with the Dutch Code, the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity prevails.
