LUMC first in Europe to provide reprogrammed stem cells to patients receiving a kidney transplant

LUMC is the first hospital in Europe to give reprogrammed stem cells to patients with a new donor kidney. The aim of the study is to test the safety of the therapy. A later phase of research will look at whether the treatment helps prevent rejection of the donor kidney.
