LUMC Peptide Facility
We offer flexible production scales, from single peptides to libraries of 576 peptides, quantities from 0.5 mg to 1 g, lengths up to 90 amino acids and structures including linear, cyclic, and branched formats. Custom modifications include non-natural amino acids, lipophilic- and bio-orthogonal groups, isotope-labels, affinity tags and fluorophores.
Services
The LUMC Peptide Facilities (CCB and MMU) offer tailored peptide synthesis services for biomedical research. We support projects ranging from individual peptides to large libraries, with flexible options in scale, design, and chemical modification.
Our services include custom peptide design, synthesis of modified peptides, purification, and LC-MS analysis. We synthesize, purify and analytically verify your synthetic peptides to ensure high quality for downstream research applications. As an additional service, tetramer reagents are available upon request.
Equipment
The Peptide Facility is equipped with five automated SYRO robotic peptide synthesizers (3x at CCB, 2x at IMMU) enabling efficient Fmoc solid-phase peptide synthesis.
After cleavage, peptide quality is assessed by UPLC-UV/MS and MALDI mass spectrometry. When required or upon request the peptides are further purified by HPLC to achieve up to 99% purity.
Pricing
Pricing depends on peptide length, scale, complexity, and required purification or analysis. We provide transparent, project-specific quotations tailored the individual needs of each project. Please contact us at peptides@lumc.nl or immuno-peptide_facility@lumc.nl for more information and a quotation.
We operate under a hybrid funding model: internal and academic customers benefit from partially subsidized, market-conform pricing, while commercial users are charged full cost rates, including overhead.
First time users
First-time users are encouraged to contact us to discuss their peptide design, scale, modifications, and intended application. We will assist in defining the optimal synthesis strategy and provide guidance on purification and analysis options. Please reach out before submitting a request so we can ensure the project is well-defined, feasible and properly planned from the start. Please contact us at peptides@lumc.nl and immuno-peptide_facility@lumc.nl for more information.
Quality assurance
We ensure high and consistent quality through routine LC-MS analysis of peptides and, when required, reverse-phase HPLC purification. We deliver each peptide to our customers with full analytical characterization and quality control data. The facility uses UPLC-TUV/MS and MALDI-TOF analysis for routine verification and has extensive experience in peptide purification, peptide-/protein sequencing, large scale production, peptide stability and release studies, and HLA-peptide binding experiments.

At the Peptide Facility, we continuously advance our capabilities to remain at the forefront of peptide science. Our embedding within a chemical biology environment provides direct access to a broad range of fluorophores and custom modifications, enabling the production of highly complex peptide and protein systems and strengthening our position as a specialized and innovative research infrastructure.
At the CCB Peptide Facility, we have established expertise in the linear synthesis of ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins and molecular probes based thereof, a capability internationally recognized and only available in a limited number of laboratories worldwide. The facility also has extensive experience in the production of peptide screening libraries and modified shorter peptides as assay reagents.
At the Immunology Peptide Facility, we additionally have experience with combinatorial split-mix peptide synthesis approaches to generate “one-bead-one peptide libraries” with extraordinary diversity for applications such as antibody epitope discovery, as well as the production of MHC class I tetramers from the commonly studied human and mouse alleles labeled with PE, APC or Alexa containing a peptide of choice.
About us
The Peptide Facility is both an organic chemistry laboratory, as well as a biochemistry and chemical biology laboratory. At the facility, peptides are routinely synthesized, purified, and analyzed. The Peptide Facility is part of the Department of Cell and Chemical Biology at the LUMC.
