Introduction
I am Professor of Radiology, in particular Nucear Medicine. I do this at LUMC, where I am also head of the Nuclear Medicine Research Group. I am also a member of the core management team 'Fundamental Technologies for Imaging and Omics' , chairman of the management team Education, member of the management team Radiology and of the 'Group Leader Bourd'. In addition, I am part-time Professor of Molecular Imaging, Innovation and Translation at the University of Twente and Medical Delta Professor affiliated with the Department of Radiation Science & Technology at TU Delft. I am also a member of the steering committee of the European Organization for Reasearch and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), Imaging Group in Brussels, of the Guidelines and Publication Council of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) in Vienna and of the writing group of the National Science Agenda 2024-2028 (NWA-NVNG).
Scientific research
On November 19, 2007, I received my PhD from Radboud University Nijmegen, with a dissertation entitled "Characterization of Malagnancy with FDG-PET. Currently I am a professor at 3 univesities: University of Twente, University of Leiden and TU Delft. My first oration was on October 30, 2014 titled "The future of imaging mapped out?". My second oration took place on December 19, 2016 with the title 'PET: tool of wonder and limitless imagination', my third inauguration took place in 2022.
