Senior researcher or assistant professor mass spectrometry-based proteomics

You have 70 more days to apply

We are looking for a senior scientist or assistant professor to strengthen the proteomics group within the Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics (CPM). Do you like to develop your own, innovative research line in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, but equally well like to contribute to the research of others? Then this may be the right position for you.

About your role

You will lead a research line in the field of proteomics. In addition to your own research, you will plan and execute mass spectrometry-based proteomics experiments as part of the CPM research facility, and you will apply and develop data analysis pipelines. You are active in acquiring funding to strengthen your own research line. You will supervise technicians, PhD students, and student research internships.

About your workplace

The Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics (CPM) is the primary expertise center and technology platform for (clinical) proteomics and metabolomics within LUMC. The center houses state-of-the-art mass spectrometry equipment and supports researchers both within and outside LUMC.

The proteomics group applies and further develops large-scale quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics, including dedicated workflows for studying post-translational modifications (e.g. glycosylation and phosphorylation), to address biomedical and clinical research questions. Research activities focus, among other areas, on HLA peptidomics and microbial proteomics.

About you

You have a strong drive to develop your own research line and actively look for funding possibilities. You enjoy collaboration and actively seek coordination of proteomics projects. You have a critical approach and quickly master new technologies and data analysis pipelines. You are flexible and have demonstrable ability to function in a team, and you possess solid communication skills in both spoken and written English. You have your BKO (“basiskwalificatie onderwijs”) or are willing to obtain it soon.

In addition:

  • You have a PhD in analytical chemistry or life sciences.
  • You have ample experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics, with an emphasis on the analysis of post-translational modifications.
  • You have a strong background in proteomics data analysis and visualization tools.
  • You have strong bioinformatics skills.
  • Affinity with HLA-peptidomics is a pre.
  • You have the attitude to assist other researchers with their proteomics experiments.
  • You have been successful in acquiring funding.
  • You can collaborate multidisciplinary.

In addition, you are entitled to an end-of-year bonus (8.3%), holiday allowance, a bicycle scheme, sports budget, home-working allowance and an excellent commuting reimbursement scheme. As an LUMC employee, you will also be enrolled in the ABP pension fund. LUMC pays no less than 70% of your pension contribution, allowing you to retain more of your net salary. A valuable benefit indeed.
