About your role
The research focuses on autoreactive B cells in peripheral blood and at the tissue level. You will investigate the presence and characteristics of these cells in different tissues, such as lymph nodes. In addition, you will study autoantibodies and their characteristics in rheumatoid arthritis and ANCA-associated vasculitis. Within a translational research framework, you will connect clinical data to laboratory findings and collaborate closely with clinicians and researchers from different disciplines.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Coordinating and conducting translational research on autoreactive B cells in blood and tissues.
- Characterizing autoreactive B cells and their properties in different anatomical compartments.
- Studying autoantibodies and their specific characteristics in rheumatoid arthritis and ANCA-associated vasculitis.
- Connecting clinical data to laboratory findings within a multidisciplinary team.
About your workplace
The Department of Rheumatology at LUMC is a EULAR Centre of Excellence where we study the pathogenesis and treatment of autoimmune diseases. The Laboratory of Experimental Rheumatology offers a dynamic environment in which fundamental and clinical research are closely interconnected.

About you
A strong affinity with patient care, fundamental research and translational research enables you to move easily between the clinic and the laboratory. With your analytical and curious mindset, you enjoy exploring complex immunological questions. Collaboration comes naturally to you, and you actively contribute to shared research goals within a multidisciplinary team.
In addition, you have:
- A completed degree in Medicine.
- Demonstrable interest in translational immunological research.
- Affinity with autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis and vasculitis.
- Interest in setting up and coordinating research projects.

More information
- As a motivated research physician, your salary ranges from a minimum of € 3,598 gross per month to a maximum of € 5,669 gross per month (scale 10, CAO UMC). These amounts are based on a full-time position.
