Oral surgery in children
Through the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at the LUMC, the WAKZ offers the possibility of maxillofacial surgical treatments for children.
The children treated by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are usually referred by a dentist or orthodontist. Many treatments are performed on an outpatient basis so that the children do not need to be admitted to the hospital.
Examples of treatments performed on children are:
- corrections of lip and tongue ties
- Exposing teeth that do not erupt in the usual way
- autotransplants of teeth or molars
- performing focus examinations and extractions
