Services
During an intake meeting, we work with you to identify the most suitable approach for your project, ensuring alignment between your research goals and the expertise and capabilities of the facility. Structural biology experiments are not offered as training services; these are performed by facility staff as a full-service offering.
Intake meeting
All projects at the LUMC Protein Facility start with a mandatory intake meeting.
During this discussion, we define your scientific objectives, assess feasibility, and design an optimal experimental strategy within the facility’s workflow.
The intake meeting takes place upon appointment.
Construct design and cloning
We support gene and construct design using a comprehensive in-house database of vectors, tags, and expression elements. Our flexible and user-friendly cloning system enables efficient generation of custom constructs, allowing virtually any user-defined sequence to be incorporated for recombinant protein production.
Protein expression and purification
We provide robust small- and large-scale expression of recombinant proteins using optimized heterologous expression systems. This is followed by high-quality purification using a variety of chromatographic techniques, ensuring well-characterized and pure protein material suitable for downstream biochemical and biophysical applications.
Biophysical characterization and molecular interaction studies
We provide a broad range of biophysical techniques to evaluate protein quality, stability, folding, and overall structural integrity. In addition, we investigate protein–protein and protein–ligand interactions using dedicated experimental approaches, delivering detailed insights into molecular mechanisms, binding properties, and functional behavior to support downstream biological and structural studies.
Structural biology
We perform structural biology experiments as a full-service offering, carried out by facility staff. High-quality data and results are delivered to users, supporting structural interpretation and downstream research. This service is not available for training purposes.
