Training and Eduction

At CPM, we train Master’s students to become fully-fledged researchers through a PhD trajectory. In addition to regular teaching, CPM provides educational programmes in the form of internships and training for guest researchers.

PhD trajectory

A PhD trajectory at LUMC involves the completion of a full research project (over 4 years), which culminates in a thesis and obtaining a doctoral degree.

At CPM, our PhD students conduct research using the latest technologies, often in collaboration with other departments at LUMC, to contribute to a better understanding and control of diseases. We train our PhD students in many aspects, including how to conduct research appropriately, reporting, presentation, lifelong learning and innovation.

PhD students are financed by funds or private donations. The doctoral candidate works under the supervision of one or more supervisors (professors) or co-supervisors.

Internships

There are regular opportunities for students to do an internship at CPM. We cordially invite students with a STEM education who aspire to a career in biomedical sciences, analytical chemistry or bioinformatics to contact us. As a rule, we assume an internship period of at least 5 months.

For more information and availability on internship placements, please contact Dr. Paul Hensbergen. Send your CV and a motivation letter in which you indicate what you want to achieve with your internship to:

Email: p.j.hensbergen@lumc.nl

Guest researchers

CPM often hosts and supervises researchers from other research institutes. The aim of our guest researchers, among other things, is to learn techniques or perform analyses with our equipment, as well as test the reproducibility of research results. We cordially invite guest researchers to contact us about opportunities.

If you are interested in collaborating with our department, please contact our department head, Professor Dr. Manfred Wuhrer, stating what your research goals and expectations are.
