Opioid epidemic
The department of Anesthesiology has active research groups that focus on studies on the improvement of perioperative outcome, acute and chronic pain, opioid epidemiology, ventilatory control and pharmacology of opioids and anesthetics, including psychedelics (ketamine) and muscle relaxants.
One important research line involves the opioid epidemic. In the video (PEP Talk) we will discuss the epidemic and highlight some of our research lines involved in opioid research. We participate in the TAPTOE consortium (Tackling and Prevention the Opioid Epidemic) that studies the epidemic in the Netherlands. and collaborate with the US FDA on opioid pharmacology.
