Preventing disease, ageing in better health and curing people. Our students truly make a difference. With a broad range of specialised master’s programmes, we train students to become professionals who shape the healthcare of tomorrow in a sustainable, innovative and impactful way. Each year they share their feedback in the Keuzegids. This year our master’s programmes Health, Ageing and Society, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences stand out.

Health, Ageing and Society scores very well on all points

The master’s programme Health, Ageing and Society has achieved very high scores on all components for eight years. On atmosphere, career preparation and lecturers it even scores excellent. At LUMC we are proud to offer such a strong programme. The master prepares students for roles in which they make a meaningful difference for older people and for the organisation of care in an ageing society. Students work on current issues and look for innovative solutions that are directly relevant to practice. The programme is small scale and personal, with plenty of room for in depth learning.

Pharmacy most appreciated of all pharmacy programmes in the Netherlands

The master Pharmacy scores above average on lecturers, career preparation and atmosphere. The pharmacist of the future is not only a medicines expert but also an active partner in patient care. There is a growing need for pharmacists who understand both pharmaceutical products and patient care. The master Pharmacy in Leiden responds to this need, for example by offering clinical rotations in the first year. This keeps the programme closely connected to practice.

Biomedical Sciences stands out among comparable programmes

The master Biomedical Sciences scores above average on content and career preparation and stands out among other Biomedical Sciences programmes. The master teaches students how the human body works and what goes wrong in disease. This helps them understand how diseases develop and positions them at the start of innovative or improved treatments. In addition to preparing students for groundbreaking research, the master also offers programmes that allow further specialisation in communication, education or management.

Faculty of Medicine

As a faculty we are proud of the commitment our teaching professionals show every day in all master’s programmes to prepare future health professionals for their careers. Above all, we value the feedback from our students. It shows us where we excel and where we can grow. The Faculty of Medicine at LUMC and Leiden University educates students to truly make a difference, especially now that healthcare is under pressure and health inequalities are increasing. This requires broad expertise: from care and prevention to research and innovation, focused on societal challenges such as ageing and supported by technology and data. In addition to the master’s programmes mentioned above, we offer more programmes in the medical and technological domains and programmes aimed at improving health through a data driven approach. Discover which master suits you. There will also be experience days soon. Curious? Have a look here.
