Area(s) of expertise:
DNA double-strand break repair
Introduction
I started my research group in 2019 as a junior group leader within the department of Human Genetics at the LUMC and I am currently also holding a position as senior investigator with Oncode Institute. My group mechanistically studies DNA double-strand break repair with a particular interest in BRCA1 function and complex formation, pathway choice and linking DSB repair problems to cancer onset and novel treatment options. We use cellular models to mimic tumours with DSB repair problems and study genomic stability using a combination of genetic approaches, proteomics, drug sensitivity assays and (live-cell) microscopy.
Next to my research interests, I am an enthousiastic teacher. In addition, I am part of the management team of the Medical Genomics research theme. Here, I aim to strengthen and promote the strong genomics research community within the LUMC.
