Clinical Geneticist
Dr. E. Aten, MD, PhD
Introduction
I have worked in the Clinical Genetics department since 2006. After completing my PhD research and training as a clinical geneticist, I started working as a staff physician.
In 2013, I received my PhD for my research on the applications of new DNA techniques to detect DNA mutations.
At the outpatient clinic, I see adults and children with genetic and developmental problems, with a specific focus on intellectual disability, congenital heart disease, and hearing loss. A key focus of my patient care is forms of neurofibromatosis and schwannomatosis. I am involved in the NF2 LUMC expertise center.
At the Clinical Genetics outpatient clinic, I advise on quality issues and serve as secretary of the quality committee within the national professional association (VKGN).
