Earning a PhD is very common for physicians, but far less so for nurses. Jeanne-Marie Nollen is one of the pioneers. Recently, she obtained her PhD as a nurse researcher at LUMC and Leiden University. In her research, she shows how strengthening the position of both nurses and patients can improve healthcare. In doing so, she inspires colleagues to follow the same path.
