Visiting a patient

Each ward at LUMC has its own visiting hours. On the overview page, you can find the specific visiting times for each department.

Some hospital wards have specific visiting regulations. For example, flowers may not be allowed in certain departments due to hygiene protocols. In some cases, patients may not be able to receive visitors temporarily for their own safety. Please check the information and visiting guidelines for the ward you plan to visit.

You can easily locate the ward you're visiting by following the designated route numbers. These can be found under 'Contact and Location' for each ward or on the directional signs in the main entrance hall. Our volunteers in the central hall are happy to assist you in finding your way.

In most hospital wards, patients are allowed to bring their own mobile phones. This means you can call or message someone who has been admitted without any issues.

Order and send a card to a patient within minutes. Not only will you brighten your loved one’s day, but with every card you also support the LUMC Friends Foundation. Of course, you’re welcome to send your own card as well.

Is a loved one admitted to LUMC and would you like to stay nearby in the evening or at night? If necessary, it may be possible for you to stay overnight at LUMC. This can be arranged through our Patient Services Office.

Please note that overnight accommodations at LUMC are limited. That’s why we’ve made arrangements with nearby hotels where you can stay at a discounted rate. You can access this discount by booking through the Patient Services Office or via Security (after 4:30 PM and during weekends).
