Introduction
My name is Anne Krabbendam and I work as a child and adolescent psychiatrist and senior researcher at LUMC Curium. Next to this, I am a professor of applied sciences at Leiden University of Applied Sciences and director of education for the child and adolescent psychiatrist trainees.

For my PhD-research I conducted a follow-up study to previously detained girls. Since 2007, I work as a child and adolescent psychiatrist at LUMC Curium and I am currently working with adolescents with emotion regulations problems, often with non-suicidal self-injury and suicidal behavior. Being a professor of applied sciences offers me the opportunity to provide education and conduct research in the overlapping area of child and adolescent psychiatry and social work.
Scientific research
My current research is focused on the link between social work and child- and adolescent psychiatry. Initially it aimed at improving family based (systemic) working in teams working with inpatient adolescents. This is a participatory action research at 6 wards in 2 institutions and this led to the development of a handbook and workshop to improve systemic working in inpatient settings in adolescent psychiatry. This research will lead to a promotion.

Next to this, I cooperate in the study ‘Implementation research to the parent training for parents of youth with suicidal behavior’ and ‘A qualitative research to the application of dynamic factors in DBT-A for adolescents with (characteristics of) a borderline personality disorder’.

At Leiden University of Applied Sciences, I am part of the research group ‘Waarde(n)vol Opgroeien’, which is part of knowledge centre ‘Samen Redzaam’.
