At the LUCID department, vacancies for the position of PhD researcher / Researcher in Training (OIO) are available at regular intervals. This training program is designed to educate the candidate over four years to become an independent microbiological researcher. During this period, a PhD dissertation must also be written that leads to an academic doctorate.

PhD positions

PhD positions can be funded based on LUMC funding or externally acquired research grants. In addition, candidates with personal funding for a PhD trajectory are invited to contact the department. The 'Reglement Onderzoekers in Opleiding' apply to LUMC PhD candidates.

Admission and Registration

 De Graduate School of LUMC facilitates admission and registration for future medical and biomedical PhD candidates. The Graduate School offers PhD candidates a highly renowned research environment, excellent infrastructure, and supervision. Furthermore, there are courses for in-depth scientific and transferable skills jointly developed by Leiden University and LUMC.  

PhD Advanced Course Infection and Immunity

This course is organized from 13 - 24 January 2025 and is intended for PhD students/OiOs. Interested participants can apply for this course by clicking on the link below:

Registrations close at the beginning of December 2024. The course has a limited capacity, with priority given to PhD students/OiOs who are more advanced in the PhD trajectory.
