You have 2 more days to apply

You are closely involved in the research and see firsthand the impact of your work. As a Research Technician at LUMC, you work with advanced stem cell and organoid models in an environment where biology and technology come together. You are part of an international team where you not only carry out experiments but also contribute ideas on how things can be improved. This combination of hands-on lab work, scientific involvement and close collaboration with researchers makes this a role where you can truly make a difference.

About your role

You support research on human pluripotent stem cells, organoids and cardiovascular development, playing an active role in executing experiments and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of laboratory processes. In an international scientific environment, you work closely with researchers and contribute to studies aimed at better understanding early human development and modelling disease.

Your main responsibilities include:
• Performing and supporting cell culture work, including the maintenance and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells
• Operating, setting up and maintaining bioreactors, including calibration and sampling
• Assisting with experiments involving cardiomyocyte differentiation, organoid models and tissue engineering
• Managing laboratory stocks and consumables, and supporting equipment maintenance
• Carrying out molecular analyses such as PCR/qPCR, immunostaining and flow cytometry

In addition, you ensure accurate and complete documentation of your work, contribute to the optimisation of protocols, and work in accordance with laboratory safety guidelines and LUMC policies.

About your workplace

LUMC is an academic medical centre where research, education and patient care come together. Researchers and healthcare professionals work closely together here to develop new insights that contribute to improved diagnostics and treatments.

The Davis and Mummery groups are part of the Department of Anatomy & Embryology and work closely with colleagues across LUMC, as well as with international partners, including within the reNEW consortium.

What makes this environment stand out is the combination of advanced facilities and an open, international atmosphere. You will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories and shared technology platforms, while working in a team where knowledge sharing is natural and there is room to exchange ideas and further develop them.

About you

You work in a structured way and maintain oversight in a dynamic research environment. In the lab, you are precise and take responsibility for the quality of your work. You move easily between working independently and collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines. You communicate clearly and contribute to a positive and professional team atmosphere.

In addition, you bring:
• A completed HBO or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology or a related field
• Experience with cell culture; experience with bioreactors is an advantage
• Knowledge of common molecular and analytical techniques
• A good command of English; Dutch is an advantage but not required
