With the Hospital Hero app, children can playfully get acquainted with the hospital and the various procedures. This helps children know better what to expect and reduces some of the anxiety.
Depending on what needs to be done during the appointment, children create their own interactive route. This allows them to prepare step-by-step for the various components of the hospital visit and think in advance about any questions they may have.

Depending on what needs to be done during the appointment, children create their own interactive route. This allows them to prepare step-by-step for the various components of the hospital visit and think in advance about any questions they may have.
The 'Even Spieken' game allows children and parents to take a look around the treatment room at home beforehand. By clicking on the various elements, children discover what will happen during the examination and which objects are involved. The rooms and objects are specially tailored to those of the Willem-Alexander Children's Hospital so that they won't be faced with any surprises.
In the hospital
At the hospital, the Animal Search Game within the app provides distraction. In the waiting room, children can go on a scavenger hunt for hidden QR codes to find and collect animals. When they find the animal friend, the matching animal friend appears on the screen along with an interesting animal fact from the Naturalis museum. Does your child need to come back? Then there will be new animals to find and add to the collection next time.

The Hospital Hero app is continuously being improved by a team of nurses, doctors, psychologists, designers, and programmers, together with children and parents. In this way, together we turn every child into a true Hospital Hero.
