Patient with ebola infection admitted to LUMC

The patient with the ebolavirus infection has arrived at LUMC. The patient has been admitted to the high level isolation unit.
Thursday 1 October – 1.15 pm
The patient had been working as a healthcare professional in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The patient became ill there and will be coming to the Netherlands with a special flight. The patient will be isolated and transported to LUMC in accordance with the applicable precautionary measures. At LUMC the patient will be cared for in strict isolation.
Well prepared
The department where the patient was admitted, is well prepared to treat patients with serious infectious diseases. During the care of a suspected patient at LUMC, all precautionary measures are taken to prevent any spread of infection. In addition to isolation rooms for patients, all necessary protective equipment for staff is available. The treatment is in strict isolation where applicable precautionary measures are being followed. LUMC has specialised isolation facilities. To remain well prepared, regular training exercises are held for the admission of patients with potentially serious and contagious diseases.
Visiting LUMC is safe
Patients and visitors are at no risk of infection, no extra measures are needed. You are still able to visit LUMC.
