About the work
Marenne Welten (1959) draws inspiration from her own thoughts and memories. Memories of her childhood, of family histories, or thoughts about the world around us, are the subject of her paintings.
Her private interiors are sometimes abstract and reminiscent of oppressive dreams. The sometimes viscous, swampy spaces keep you imprisoned and explore the atmosphere and meaning that interiors can evoke and the influence they have on the people inside.
