For LUMC Pride and Neurodiversity LUMC, this is exactly what it is all about: the freedom to express yourself as you truly are, whether this concerns whom you love, how you express yourself, or how your brain experiences the world. We have different opinions, we do not look alike, and yet we feel at home here, together.

What touches us about this artwork is that no one has to change in order to belong. Everyone is simply there as they are. Messy, colorful, and authentically themselves. That is also how we envision the LUMC: a place where you do not have to fit into a box in order to take part.

About the artwork
Tanja Ritterbex (1985) is a painter and divides her body of work into three phases: before she became pregnant, during her pregnancy and afterwards.
This painting dates from the ‘pre-period’, when she painted what was happening around her. She depicted her friends, family and her fascination with fashion, influencers and social media in bright colours and an expressive style. Her paintings reflect the times in which she lives. This group portrait shows how people, despite their differences, can be connected.
