The Young Faculty Network (YFN) connects clinician scientists, postdoctoral fellows, senior researchers, assistant and associate professors at the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC). Its aims are to support and represent postgraduate researchers working within LUMC through their academic careers.

Bestuur.jpgAbout us

The Young Faculty Network organises courses, workshops and symposia covering topics relevant to our members at the LUMC. We cooperate with and represent the young faculty on a regular basis at the Executive Board, Human Resource Management Directorate, LUMC research council, the Learning Portal and the Directorate of Research Policy.

YFN puts Young Faculty Network members in strategic positions at the LUMC, so we can try to impact on LUMC’s policy. Finally, we coordinate a mentoring program which is open for all our members, and organise regular social events so we can meet each other.

The YFN board is in close contact with both the national network POSTDOCNL, and the local networks Young Academy Leiden (YAL), Leiden University Postdoc Assembly (LUPA) and Academic Medical Specialists Association Leiden (ASV-L), which represent early career scientists.

Our mission is to improve the professional development and position of early and mid-career scientists to develop a successful academic career.

Board

The YFN was founded in 2012 by four young faculty members from the LUMC: Ramon Arens (IHB), Mettine Bos (STOL), Yaël Nossent (HLK), and Wiep Klaas Smits (MM).
