The quality of the LUMC scientific research is object to regular evaluation to obtain insight into the quality and the impact of our individual research programmes as well as the Medical research profiles as a whole.
The Quality of scientific research and societal impact is evaluated once every six years by external reviews in accordance with the guidelines in the Standard Evaluation Protocol drawn up by the Association of Universities in the Nethelands (VSNU), the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Netherlands Organisation for Academic Research (NWO). The audit committee evaluates the scientific and societal impact of the research and also makes an assessment of the programme and the supervision of PhD candidates within the institutes.
In addition to the evaluation according to the SEP, the impact of our research is regularly analysed by the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University.
The LUMC Scientific Advisory Committee has the objective to safeguard the dynamics and quality of research and analyzes the bibliometric analysis and results of the reviews. They provide advice to the Excecutive Board whether modifications are necessary to the research strategy.
