In order to be admitted, you have to meet several requirements.
Admission bachelor Medicine
The bachelor program in Medicine is a ‘quota program’, which means only a limited number of places is available. Prospective students are selected through a selection procedure. Non-Dutch educated students also have to apply for a letter of admission, that states if prior education and knowledge of the Dutch and English language are sufficient. Please read the information for Non-Dutch educated students (pdf) and the Additional subject requirements (pdf) carefully. Check the website of Leiden University for additional information on studying at Leiden University and how to apply.
Admission master Medicine
Every year, a very limited number of students is admitted to a pre-master program called ‘zijinstroom’. Only students with sufficient knowledge of the Dutch language and specific bachelor diplomas can be admitted to this program. Read more about zijinstroom.
Admission for exchange students
LUMC offers several opportunities for exchange students or Study Abroad students to take part in some taught modules in Medicine, or to conduct research projects in experimental and translational medicine. Clinical internships are, however, not accessible to international students. More information is available on the international students page.
