Medicinal Chemistry

Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research – Medicinal Chemistry

Our expertise is based on three main research lines: ‘organic synthesis’, ‘molecular pharmacology’, and ‘computational chemical biology’. Projects focus first on membrane bound proteins, in particular there is a longstanding expertise in G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs). Within the context of the research cluster the focus is on innovative cancer treatment. Expertise that is available: synthesis of novel small molecule ligands, synthesis of covalent ligands, radioligand binding assays to obtain ligand-target affinity and binding-kinetics, diverse (cellular) functional assays, structure-affinity modeling, bioinformatics analysis, molecule docking and crystal structure analysis, machine learning.
