Migraine significantly reduces quality of life and costs society a lot of money. The World Health Organization (WHO) lists migraine among the top 10 most burdensome diseases. People can become disabled by a migraine attack, cannot go to work or to school, or participate in social life with family and friends. In addition, migraine can lead to complications such as chronic migraine and brain or heart attacks. Women are especially at risk. We are therefore conducting research into gender-specific factors in migraine with the aim of improving migraine treatment.
