Professor Health Psychology and Chair of the Health, Medical and Neuropsychology Unit
Andrea W.M. Evers, clinical psychologist, is professor of Health Psychology and head of the Health, Medical and Neuropsychology Unit of Leiden University. Her research focuses on psychoneurobiological factors in health and disease. She has a special interest the psychoneurobiology of somatic complaints (e.g. pain and itch) and conditions (e.g. chronic inflammatory conditions), with particular emphasis on placebo and stress effects (e.g. NWO Veni, NWO-Vidi and ERC Consolidator Grant). Her research group conducts both fundamental research on psychoneurobiology of placebo and stress mechanisms and translational research on E-health screening and innovative interventions for chronic somatic conditions. Evers focuses on interdisciplinary science policy accommodating both fundamental and applied research, and encouraging patient participation in research. She is member of the Young Academy of the KNAW.
