Prof. dr. J.J. Houwing-Duistermaat, Medical Sciences

Professor of Statistical Genetics, Department of Medical Statistics and Bioinformatics, Leiden University Medical Centre.

My research area is statistical genetics with a specific interest in statistical methods for family data

I am involved in many ongoing studies searching for genetic factors for complex genetic traits, such as longevity, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, the interplay between allergy and infection, thrombosis, and social anxiety. Research topics I am currently working on include:

  • Estimation of genotypic relative risks within families
  • Advanced linkage methods
  • Models for healthy aging
  • Analysis of next generation sequence data
  • Analysis of metabolomics and glycomics data

Area of interest(s):

  • statistical genetics
  • analysis of family data
