Teaching is one of the core activities of our group, both in LUMC, Leiden University, and external institutions.
Our primary teaching activity is teaching statistics courses in the bachelor and master programs of Medicine, Biomedical Science and Clinical Technology within LUMC. We also teach a specialized survival analysis course aimed at clinical researchers, as part of Boerhaave Nascholing.
Master Statistical Science for the Life and Behavioural Sciences
The MSc of Statistical Science for the Life and Behavioural Sciences is a joint initiative of several university centers from the Netherlands hosted by Leiden University. We teach the courses of Survival Analysis, Statistical Consulting and Statistics . Furthermore, we supervise master theses and internship programs for students. Click here for a list of the graduates who have worked with us.
We also contribute to clinical courses and workshops outside LUMC and Leiden University. Members of our group are frequently invited to teach specialized courses in the world, such as the yearly course of Clinical Trial Statistics for non Statisticians at the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), courses for the Dutch Children Oncology Group (DCGO) and the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT).
Teaching material for secondary schools
To contribute to bridging the gap between statistics teaching in secondary schools and statistics as used in medicine, we have developed teaching material (in Dutch).
