Egbert A.J.F. Lakke MD PhD

Associate Professor


Dr. Egbert A.J.F. Lakke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy & Embryology and responsible for graduate, postgraduate and specialist teaching and training in the areas Head & Neck and Neuroanatomy. After receiving his MD from the Free University of Brussels he joined the (Neuro)Anatomy Department of the Leiden University where he earned a PhD-degree in Experimental Neuroembryology. As Clinical Anatomist he serves as a consultant to the Department of Neuroradiology of the LUMC, to the Leiden Institute of Brain and Cognition and to the Gorter Institute.
Dr. Lakke coordinates the second year Biomedical Sciences module “Introduction in the Neurosciences”, the third year elective Biomedical Sciences module “Special Senses” and the Biomedical Sciences master track “Neuroscience”. He sits on the module committees for the first year Biomedical Sciences module “Metabolism II”, the first year Medical module “Nervous System” and the third year Medical module “Special Senses and Nervous System”. He is a member of the Biomedical Sciences OLC; the committee responsible for content and quality of the curriculum, of the ICC; the committee that advises the Medical and Biomedical Sciences OLCs on IT matters and of the BWplus committee; the excellent students track of the Biomedical Sciences curriculum.
Dr. Lakke teaches in the postgraduate (Boerhaave) courses “Osteotomy of the skull” and “Brachial plexus surgery”, and co-organizes the postgraduate (Boerhaave) course “Upper extremity plexus blocks”.
For his contributions to the Medical and Biomedical Sciences curricula he received the 2006 Prof. Dr. G.J. Tammeling Education Award.
