Short introduction

The long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is a rare inherited heart condition characterised by irregular heartbeats leading to arrhythmias and sudden death.
We derived induced pluripotent stem cells from a patient affected by LQTS and compared these cells with human embryonic stem cells in which the same LQT mutation had been introduced. These stem cell pairs revealed the fundamental role of this mutation in the mechanism of LQTS.

Pubmed ref: Isogenic human pluripotent stem cell pairs reveal the role of a KCNH2 mutation in long-QT syndrome.
