Training for Medical Specialist

The Department of Medical Microbiology participates within the LUMC in the training program for medical specialist. The training program for medical microbiologist comprises  5 years and covers all aspects necessary for this specialization: bacteriology, virology, parasitology and mycology, both at the level of laboratory diagnostics as well as the clinical problems of infections and therapy.

Besides this "regular" training, an increasing number of candidates decide to take part in the so-called "AGIKO" training program: carrying out a major research project as part of the training, which is therefore being prolonged with 2-3 years, and should finally result in a PhD-graduation.

Instructor within the LUMC is prof.dr. A.C.M. Kroes
