The Center of Infectious Diseases (CID) combines the activities of the following Departments:

Department of Medical Microbiology (MM)
Department of Parasitology (PARA)
Department of Infectious Diseases (INZI)
Researchgroup Cellular Immunology of Bacterial Infections of the Department of Immuno-Hematology & Blood Transfusion (IHB)

The activities of the Center include:

Scientific Research in the fields of: Virology, bacteriology, parasitology, microbial immunology, cell biology of host-pathogen interactions, diagnostics and clinical infectious diseases
 
Teaching Programs in: Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Life Science and Technology, as well as post-graduate trainings
 
Laboratory Diagnosis of Infectious Diseases: Diagnosis of bacterial, viral and parasitic infections by microscopy and culture, determination of antibiotic sensitivities and antigen detection

Diagnosis of infectious diseases by the detection of nucleic acid, including the further qualitative and quantitative analysis of these infections
 
Patient Care: Both within the hospital and in outpatients' departments
