Parasitology
The Department of Parasitology conducts research on human infections caused by Parasites.
The research is focused on parasite-host interactions of important parasitic diseases like malaria, schistosomiasis and filariasis. Our aim is to make a contribution to the development of new medicines and vaccines and improving diagnostic tools. The department has unique facilities for MS (Mass spectrometry) and NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) research. Patient diagnosis of parasitic infections is integrated in the Clinical Microbiological Laboratory.
