Interventional Molecular Imaging

IMI overviewThe IMI-group has a high multidisciplinary nature and consists of enthusiastic scientists with a background in biology, medicine, chemistry, and/or physics. Jointly they pursue the development of new imaging agents and imaging technologies that can be applied during surgical and/or radiological interventions (image guided surgery).

Due to the different backgrounds in the group, we are involved in all aspects of research, ranging from synthetic organic chemistry to the performance of preclinical and clinical studies. Hereby the ultimate aim is the rapid clinical translation of new technologies that are beneficial for patient care.

The current group composition is:

Students who wish to join the group for an internship are encouraged to directly contact the person whose research interest matches best with their own.

Running projects wherein group members are involved:

  • European framework FP7-Health: HYPERImage - hybrid PET-MR system for concurrent ultra-sensitive imaging

  • Center for Translational Molecular Medicine: Neoadjuvant drug treatment for breast cancer-response-prediction and response monitoring (BREAST CARE)

  • Dutch Cancer Society grant: The role of endoglin in induction and repair of cardiovascular damage after radiation alone or in combination with trastuzumab (Herceptin)

  • Dutch Cancer Society career research award: Targeting CXCR4 with multimodal imaging agents as a means to improve the efficacy of breast cancer surgery via combined pre-, intra-, and postoperative imaging

  • Center for Translational Molecular Medicine: Intraoperative multi-spectral imaging system for radical tumor resection (MUSIS)

  • VIDI-NWO-STW (Dutch research counsel): Imaging agents for surgical guidance

  • NWO-Nano (Dutch research counsel): Reversible non-covalent assemblies for in vivo imaging applications

  • VENI-NWO-CW (Dutch research counsel): Multispectral nanomaterials for image guided surgery

SAMENWERKING

Research
